Rooms and suites

Standard rooms are about 375 square feet with one king or two queen beds, and suites add separate living space. Room types include:

• Resort-view and partial-ocean-view rooms
• Ocean-view rooms with balcony or lanai
• Terrace ocean-view rooms
• Ocean-view suites and bi-level ocean-view suites of about 625 square feet

All rooms have Westin’s Heavenly Beds, air conditioning, a mini-fridge and Wi-Fi. Ocean-view rooms look over the harbor or the Caribbean, which is worth paying for if you want sunset views.

Restaurants and bars

Dining at the Westin covers casual breakfasts to sushi with a view:

• Luna Mar: coastal Mediterranean with handmade pasta, Neapolitan pizza, seafood and steak
• Sugarfin: Asian-inspired sushi with sunset views over the harbor
• Shorebird: family-friendly breakfast and weekend brunch
• The Edge Bar: cocktails with panoramic views
• Frenchman’s Roast: coffee, grab-and-go food and beach gear

Guests can also use the restaurants and bars at Morningstar Buoy Haus next door, which adds more casual choices.

Beach, pools and spa

Morningstar Beach sits below the resort, and Dockside Watersports offers non-motorized water sports. There are three ocean-view pools, including an infinity-edge pool with a swim-up bar and an adults-only pool.

The Heavenly Spa by Westin has 13 treatment rooms and is adults only.

Activities and entertainment

The Westin Family program for ages 4 to 12 includes yoga, arts and crafts and outdoor games, booked by the hour or half day for a fee. The WestinWORKOUT Fitness Studio is open 24 hours for adults, and gear lending lets you borrow running and workout equipment.

Private boat charters leave from the resort dock, including sails on the Flying Frenchman catamaran.

Around the island, Magens Bay on the north shore is one of the best-known beaches in the Caribbean, and Coki Point is a favorite for snorkeling. Charlotte Amalie has duty-free shopping and historic streets, and the ferry from Red Hook takes you to St. John, where much of the island is protected as Virgin Islands National Park. Day sails to the British Virgin Islands are also popular, though they need a passport.

• Best for: families and couples who want a full-service beach resort near Charlotte Amalie, Marriott Bonvoy members, travelers who want an adults-only pool option.
• Consider another resort if: you want a small boutique hotel, an all-inclusive rate or a quiet east end setting.

Getting there from Cyril E. King Airport

The Westin is about 15 minutes from Cyril E. King Airport (STT), on the south side of the island near Charlotte Amalie.

St. Thomas is a US territory, so US citizens do not need a passport to fly in from the mainland, and the currency is the US dollar. Taxis at the airport usually charge per person by destination, and many are shared vans. Driving is on the left, even though most cars are left-hand drive.
