Rooms and suites

Rooms are spread across three main areas:

  • Vista Studios and Suites in the heart of the resort
  • Reef House Suites, quieter and family-style, including two-bedroom suites
  • Oceanfront Villas with three bedrooms and private plunge pools

The Reef House has its own quiet pool, which makes it a good choice for families or anyone who wants a calmer corner of the resort. The Oceanfront Villas suit larger groups.

Restaurants and bars

The resort lists six restaurants and four bars. Venues include:

  • Sea Salt: international dinner overlooking the ocean and pool
  • The Cellar at Sea Salt: home of the Chef’s Table
  • The Terrace: open-air dining overlooking the pool
  • Vista Rooftop: rooftop bar and lounge with Asian and Nikkei cuisine
  • Arlie’s Bar: lobby lounge with Caribbean food
  • Terrace Pool Bar and Beach Bar

Alaia also offers an optional all-inclusive package covering drinks and dining, which the resort lists at US$199 per person per night at the time of writing.

Beach, pools and spa

The resort sits on the beach facing the barrier reef. There are three main pools: the rooftop infinity pool, a heated pool with a swim-up bar, and the Reef House quiet pool, plus poolside cabanas.

K’in Spa offers full-body massages, facials, body scrubs and a steam room.

Activities and entertainment

Alaia runs private excursions on its own boat, the Reel Escape, and offers sunrise yoga on the Vista Rooftop, mixology classes and a Chef’s Table. Families get kid-friendly menus, s’mores on the beach, an obstacle course, cookie making and golf cart trips to Secret Beach.

Mainland trips to the Mayan ruins at Xunantunich and Caracol can be arranged.

Ambergris Caye sits just inside the Belize Barrier Reef, the longest in the Western Hemisphere. Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley are a short boat ride from San Pedro and are the island’s best-known snorkel trips, and divers can book day trips to the Blue Hole. Most people get around the island by golf cart, and San Pedro town has plenty of casual restaurants and beach bars.

Who it’s best for

  • Best for: couples and families who want a modern luxury resort with a rooftop bar, suites and kid-friendly activities, and Marriott Bonvoy members.
  • Consider another resort if: you want a small, rustic hideaway or a fully adults-only setting.
