Angkor Wat temple towers reflected in a pond at sunrise in Siem Reap, Cambodia

Siem Reap is a riverside town in northwest Cambodia and the gateway to Angkor Archaeological Park, the vast temple complex that includes Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and Ta Prohm. Most visitors stay in the town center near Pub Street and the Old Market, along the Siem Reap River, or on the quieter roads north of town toward the temples.

International flights land at Siem Reap–Angkor International Airport (SAI), which opened in 2023 about 40 km east of town. The drive to central Siem Reap takes about 1 hour. The local currency is the Cambodian riel, and U.S. dollars are widely used. The dry season runs from about November to April, with the coolest weather from December to February, and the rainy season from May to October.
