Samaná Resorts & Tours

Samaná is a green, hilly peninsula on the northeast coast of the Dominican Republic, known for palm-lined beaches, waterfalls and the humpback whales that gather in Samaná Bay each winter. Most visitors stay in Las Terrenas, a relaxed beach town on the north coast, in quiet Las Galeras at the eastern tip near Playa Rincón, or around the town of Santa Bárbara de Samaná on the bay.
International flights land at Samaná El Catey International Airport (AZS), about 30 minutes from Las Terrenas and 45 to 60 minutes from Samaná town. Many travelers also fly into Santo Domingo (SDQ), about 2.5 hours away by road. The local currency is the Dominican peso, and U.S. dollars are widely accepted. Humpback whales visit Samaná Bay from about January to March, and hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30.
