Crete Resorts & Tours

Crete is the largest Greek island, known for long sandy beaches, deep mountain gorges, Minoan ruins and old Venetian harbor towns. Most visitors stay on the north coast around Hersonissos and Malia, in the luxury resorts of Elounda and Agios Nikolaos in the east, or in Chania and Rethymno in the west.
Most international flights land at Heraklion International Airport (HER), about 30 minutes from Hersonissos and about 1 hour from Elounda. Chania International Airport (CHQ) serves western Crete and is about 25 to 30 minutes from Chania town. The local currency is the euro. The main season runs from about May to October, when it is warm and dry, and many beach resorts close in winter.
