The Angel of Independence monument on Paseo de la Reforma in Mexico City

Mexico City is the capital of Mexico and one of the largest cities in the world, set high on a plateau at about 2,240 meters (7,350 feet). It is known for its museums, Aztec and colonial history, parks and food. Most visitors stay in Polanco, along Paseo de la Reforma, in the leafy Roma and Condesa neighborhoods, or in the historic center around the Zócalo.

International flights land at Mexico City International Airport (MEX) on the east side of the city, usually 30 to 60 minutes from Reforma and Polanco, depending on traffic. The local currency is the Mexican peso. Thanks to the altitude, the weather is mild all year. The dry season runs from about November to April, and the rainy season from about June to September brings short afternoon showers.
