Agadir is a modern beach city on Morocco’s southern Atlantic coast, rebuilt after the 1960 earthquake around a long, sandy bay and a seafront promenade. Most visitors stay in the hotel zone along the beach and in the newer Founty and Baie des Palmiers area to the south, or about 20 km north in Taghazout Bay, known for surfing and golf.

International flights land at Agadir–Al Massira Airport (AGA), about 25 km southeast of the city, roughly 30 to 40 minutes from the beachfront hotels and about 1 hour from Taghazout Bay. The local currency is the Moroccan dirham. Agadir is sunny for most of the year, with mild winters and warm, dry summers, which makes it a popular winter sun destination.
