Marrakech is a historic city in central Morocco, at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, known for its walled medina, its busy souks and the lively Jemaa el-Fnaa square. The local currency is the Moroccan dirham, and cash is useful in the souks. Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the most comfortable times to visit, while summer is very hot and winter nights can be cold.
