Palawan / El Nido Resorts & Tours

Boats anchored in a turquoise lagoon surrounded by limestone cliffs in El Nido, Palawan

Palawan is a long, narrow island province in the western Philippines, known for its limestone cliffs, clear lagoons and island-dotted bays. El Nido, at the northern tip, faces Bacuit Bay and is the base for the famous island-hopping tours. Most visitors stay in El Nido town and on nearby Corong-Corong, Marimegmeg and Nacpan beaches, on one of the private island resorts in Bacuit Bay, or in Puerto Princesa, the provincial capital and gateway to the Underground River.

Puerto Princesa International Airport (PPS) has the most flights, mostly via Manila, and the drive from there to El Nido takes about 5 to 6 hours. Smaller flights from Manila also land at El Nido’s Lio Airport (ENI), about 20 minutes from town. The local currency is the Philippine peso. The dry season runs from about December to May, and the rainy season from June to October, when typhoons can affect boat trips.
