Clearwater is a city on Florida’s Gulf Coast in Pinellas County, about 20 miles west of Tampa. It is best known for Clearwater Beach, a wide stretch of soft white sand on a barrier island linked to the mainland by the Memorial Causeway, with Pier 60 and its nightly sunset gatherings at the center. Most visitors stay on Clearwater Beach itself, near Pier 60 and the Beach Walk promenade, or a little farther south on quieter Sand Key.

Most flights land at Tampa International Airport (TPA), about 35 to 45 minutes from Clearwater Beach by car. St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport (PIE) is closer, about 20 to 25 minutes away, and is served mainly by low-cost airlines. The weather is warm for most of the year. Spring is the most popular time to visit, summer is hot and humid with afternoon storms, and hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30.
