Clear blue freshwater blue hole surrounded by tropical forest in Vanuatu

Vanuatu is a South Pacific nation of more than 80 islands, about 2 to 3 hours by air from Brisbane and Sydney. It is known for its lagoons, coral reefs, waterfalls, active volcanoes and village life. Most visitors stay on Efate, the main island, in or around the capital, Port Vila, on Erakor Lagoon, Mele Bay or Havannah Harbour. Others head to Espiritu Santo for its beaches and wreck diving, or to Tanna to see Mount Yasur volcano.

International flights land at Bauerfield International Airport (VLI), about 10 to 15 minutes from central Port Vila and 30 to 40 minutes from Havannah Harbour. The local currency is the Vanuatu vatu. The cooler, drier season runs from about May to October, and the hot, wet cyclone season from November to April. Browse resorts and tours in Vanuatu below, from sailing and snorkel cruises and river kayaking to round-island tours, waterfalls and turtle encounters.
