La Residencia, A Belmond Hotel, Mallorca
About La Residencia, A Belmond Hotel, Mallorca
La Residencia, A Belmond Hotel, is a luxury hotel in Deia, a stone village in the Serra de Tramuntana mountains on Mallorca’s northwest coast. It has 70 rooms and suites set in restored manor houses surrounded by olive and citrus groves, with views of the mountains and the sea.
What sets it apart is the setting: Deia has long attracted artists and writers, and the hotel keeps that relaxed, artistic feel, with an art collection and a restaurant in a former olive press. It suits couples and families who want a peaceful countryside base rather than a beach resort.

This is not a beachfront hotel. Deia’s small rocky cove, Cala Deia, is below the village and reached by a walk or short drive. At the hotel there are two outdoor pools and an indoor pool.
The full-service spa has six treatment rooms, a sauna, steam room, Turkish bath and hot tub.
The gardens, terraces and orchards are a big part of the experience, with views over the Tramuntana mountains.
Activities and entertainment
A free children’s club is available, and in-room babysitting can be arranged for a fee. Guests can hike the mountain trails around Deia, visit the house of the poet Robert Graves in the village, or explore nearby Valldemossa and Soller.
The Serra de Tramuntana is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and its roads and footpaths are popular with walkers and cyclists in spring and autumn.
Mallorca’s main beach season runs from late spring to early autumn, with July and August the busiest and most expensive months. Spring and autumn are popular for hiking and cycling, with milder weather and quieter roads, while some hotels and many seasonal pools close or reduce services in winter, so check dates before you book.
Beyond the resort, Mallorca mixes the old town and cathedral of Palma, the mountain villages of the Serra de Tramuntana such as Deia, Valldemossa and Soller, and coves and long sandy beaches around the coast. Renting a car is the easiest way to explore the island.
Who it’s best for
- Best for: couples and families who want a calm, characterful hotel in the mountains with easy access to hiking and village life.
- Consider another resort if: you want a sandy beach on your doorstep or a lively resort with nightlife.
Getting there from Palma de Mallorca Airport
Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) is about 59 minutes from the hotel by car. The last part of the drive is on winding mountain roads, so allow extra time.
Taxis and rental cars are available at the airport, and many hotels can arrange a private transfer. Summer is peak season in Mallorca, so traffic around Palma and on the main roads can add time to the journey.
