About Grace Hotel, Auberge Resorts Collection

Grace Hotel, Auberge Resorts Collection, is a small luxury hotel on the caldera rim in Imerovigli, the quiet village between Fira and Oia that sits at the highest point of the caldera. It has around 20 rooms and suites, all looking over the Aegean.

What sets it apart is the calm setting and the dining: its infinity pool appears to merge with the sea horizon, and the restaurant is run by Michelin-starred chef Lefteris Lazarou. Children aged 14 and under are not accepted, so it suits couples who want a quieter alternative to Oia.

Beach, pools and spa

There is no beach at the hotel. The infinity pool appears to blend into the sea horizon and is open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm in season.

Spa treatments include massages, facials and body scrubs, and should be booked in advance. There is also a fitness area.

Like most hotels on the caldera rim, the property is built into the cliff on several levels, so expect plenty of steps between the entrance, the pool and your suite. Guests with limited mobility should ask about access before booking.

Activities and entertainment

Santorini’s main travel season runs from spring to autumn. Many caldera hotels close or scale back services over the winter months, and pools may be closed outside the season, so check opening dates before you book. July and August are the busiest and most expensive months, while May, June, September and early October are usually warm with fewer crowds.

Imerovigli is quieter than Oia and Fira but well placed for both. The caldera footpath runs through the village, and Skaros Rock, a rocky headland with views back along the cliffs, is nearby. Fira is about 2 km away.

Beyond the hotel, Santorini is all about the caldera views, the clifftop walk between Fira and Oia, wine tastings at local wineries, boat trips around the volcano and the hot springs, and the black and red sand beaches on the south and east coasts. Sunset in Oia is famous, so expect crowds in the village at that hour.

Who it’s best for

  • Best for: couples who want a small, quiet adults-only hotel with a standout infinity pool and fine dining.
  • Consider another resort if: you are traveling with children aged 14 or under, want a beach or need a lively village scene outside the door.

Getting there from Santorini (Thira) International Airport

Santorini (Thira) International Airport (JTR) is about 21 minutes by car. The hotel offers transfers for a fee, quoted at EUR 100 per car one way for up to two passengers.

Santorini’s airport is small and roads on the island are narrow and busy in summer. Booking the hotel’s transfer or a private car in advance saves waiting in the taxi line, which can be long when several flights land together.
