About Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa
Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa stretches across 40 oceanfront acres at the southern end of Kaanapali Beach on Maui’s west side. It is a large, lively resort with 810 rooms, an open-air lobby filled with native plants, and a half-acre lagoon pool complex.
The resort is full of small surprises that make it popular with families: penguins in the atrium at breakfast time, a lava tube waterslide, and a rooftop astronomy tour with high-powered telescopes. It suits families, groups and anyone who wants a classic Kaanapali beach stay. It is not all-inclusive.

Who it’s best for
- Best for: families, groups and travelers who want a big beachfront resort on Kaanapali Beach with plenty of activities.
- Consider another resort if: you want a short airport transfer, a quiet boutique feel, or to stay on the sunnier south shore in Wailea.
Getting there from Kahului Airport
The resort is about a 50-minute drive from Kahului Airport (OGG). The drive follows the Honoapiilani Highway along the coast to the west side of the island.
Kapalua Airport (JHM) on the west side handles only small commuter flights, so most visitors fly into Kahului. Booking your transfer ahead of time is helpful for the longer drive, especially after a flight from the mainland.
