About Sandals Royal Bahamian
Sandals Royal Bahamian is an adults-only, all-inclusive resort for couples on Cable Beach, on the north shore of New Providence just west of downtown Nassau. The resort is known for having its own private offshore island, Barefoot Cay, a short boat ride from the beach.
What sets it apart is the mix of a full luxury all-inclusive plan with an island escape. Meals, top-shelf drinks, scuba diving for certified divers, water sports, airport transfers, taxes and tips are all included. It suits honeymooners, anniversary trips and couples who want a polished resort with plenty of dining choice and no extra bills.

Rooms and suites
Rooms range from standard categories to butler suites. Two categories stand out:
- Oceanview swim-up Butler Suites with direct pool access
- Island Village Villa Suites with a private plunge pool, butler service and a Tranquility Soaking Tub
- Butler-level suites in several categories, including oceanview options
Butler suites add services such as in-suite dining and help with reservations, and select top suites include Rolls-Royce airport transfers. Sandals updates its room categories often, so check the current list when you book.
Restaurants and bars
Sandals lists 12 restaurants plus food trucks, and eight bars including three swim-up bars. The restaurants are:
- La Plume: classic French
- Butch’s Island Chop House: steakhouse
- Tesoro: Italian
- Kanoo: pan-Caribbean
- Kimonos: Japanese teppanyaki
- Aralia House: seafood
- Calico Cafe: seaside grill
- The Queen’s Pearl: British pub fare

Beach, pools and spa
The resort fronts Cable Beach, and Barefoot Cay is reached by an included water taxi. The island has two beaches, one for relaxing and one for snorkeling, plus a spa area and a Zen garden.
Back on the main property there are seven pools and five whirlpools. Red Lane Spa offers massages and other treatments for an extra charge.
Activities and entertainment
PADI-certified scuba diving and snorkeling are included, along with Hobie Cats, paddleboards and kayaks. On land, guests can play tennis and pickleball and use the fitness center.
Evenings bring entertainment and live music around the resort, and there is no kids club because no children stay here.
Nassau itself is close by. Downtown Nassau has Bay Street shopping, the Queen’s Staircase, Fort Fincastle and the cruise port, and the Straw Market sells local crafts. Boat trips leave daily for snorkeling, swimming with the famous pigs in the Exumas by day trip, and quieter cays around New Providence. Arawak Cay, known locally as the Fish Fry, is a lively spot for conch salad and Bahamian food.
Who it’s best for
- Best for: couples, honeymooners and anniversary trips who want an adults-only all-inclusive with plenty of dining, scuba included and a private island to visit.
- Consider another resort if: you are traveling with children or friends who are not a couple, or you prefer a small boutique hotel.
