About Seadust Cancun Family Resort

Seadust Cancun Family Resort is an all-inclusive resort built around families, on the beach at Km 17 of Cancun’s Hotel Zone. Its long, narrow 12-storey building stretches from the Caribbean to the Nichupté Lagoon, which guests often compare to staying on a cruise ship: restaurants, shops and activities line a central corridor, and almost everything a family needs is under one roof. The headline feature is the Treasure Island water park, with slides, water castles and a pirate ship, plus supervised clubs for babies, kids and teens, all included in the rate. It’s one of the closest Hotel Zone resorts to the airport, about 15 minutes away, which makes it an easy choice for travelers with young children.

Rooms and suites

The resort has about 500 rooms and suites, all with a private balcony, and most with full or partial ocean views; the rest look over the lagoon. Rooms measure more than 500 square feet, with one king or two double beds, a stocked minibar, coffee maker and in-room safe, and there’s space for a travel cot. Reviewers describe the décor as simple rather than luxurious, but clean and practical, and 24-hour room service is included.

Tip: ask for a higher floor on the ocean side. The building is long, so rooms near the middle are also closer to the restaurants and elevators.

Restaurants and dining

There are ten places to eat, and the à la carte restaurants don’t require reservations, which helps with children’s schedules.

  • Food Gallery: international buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  • Lighthouse: Mediterranean buffet.
  • Florencia: Italian à la carte.
  • Steakhouse: grilled meats à la carte.
  • Samurai: Japanese à la carte.
  • El Maguey: Mexican à la carte.
  • Manhattan: New York-style deli.
  • Waves and Cactus: snack bars, with healthy grab-and-go options at Cactus.
  • Caffetino: coffee and pastries.

Kids also have their own buffet next to the water park, with kid-sized portions at lunchtime, and an ice-cream cart makes the rounds by the pools.

Kids, teens and the water park

Treasure Island water park sits at the back of the resort, with slides, splash areas and a giant pirate ship. It’s best for children roughly 3 to 10, and it’s open to families from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and again from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.; children need to be registered with the Kids Club to use it.

  • Kids Club (ages 5–12): supervised activities from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., including treasure hunts, water games, painting, sports and movies.
  • Baby club: a dedicated space for toddlers, next to the water park.
  • Teen Playroom: video games, ping-pong and a place to hang out, open 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Zip line: for kids 5 to 14 (under 150 cm and 60 kg), plus mini golf and a sports court.

The clubs are included, but in-room babysitting costs extra.

Beach and pools

The resort sits on a wide stretch of Hotel Zone beach with loungers and a lifeguard. Like most of the Hotel Zone’s south end, it faces the open Caribbean, so waves can be stronger than on the calmer northern beaches; watch the flag system with young swimmers. Seaweed (sargassum) can arrive between roughly May and October.

There are three infinity pools facing the sea, a children’s pool, and a pool on the lagoon side, plus a swim-up bar and hot tubs.

Bars, entertainment and spa

Ten bars cover the pools, beach and lobby. The activities team runs games for kids and adults around the pool during the day, and the resort’s theater hosts live shows in the evening. For parents, the spa offers massages and treatments (extra cost), alongside a sauna, steam room and fitness center with classes such as morning yoga.

Who it’s best for

  • Best for: families with babies, toddlers and kids up to about 12; parents who want included kids’ clubs; travelers who want a short airport transfer and value for money in the Hotel Zone.
  • Consider another resort if: you’re a couple looking for a quiet or romantic stay; you want modern, upscale rooms; or you need very calm water for swimming.

Getting there from Cancun Airport
