Beach, pools and spa
The resort faces a long golden-sand Atlantic beach with a beach club and cabanas. This is open ocean, so waves can be strong; check conditions and flags before swimming.
There are five outdoor pools: the Aura adults-only swim lounge, the zero-entry Turtle Cove pool with two water slides, the Coquí splash pool for small children, and more, plus hot tubs. El Yunque Spa has 10 treatment rooms.
Activities and entertainment
Golfers have 36 holes: the Ocean Course by Tom and George Fazio and the River Course by Greg Norman. The resort also has the Casino Rio Mar with a sportsbook lounge, and the Xplorers kids’ club for an extra charge.
Puerto Rico is warm all year. December to April is the drier, busier high season, while May to October brings more rain. Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30.
Beyond the resort, El Yunque National Forest is next door for waterfall hikes, Luquillo Beach and its food kiosks are a short drive east, and Fajardo’s boat trips and bioluminescent bay are about 20 minutes away.
