What to expect on the day

The zipline course drops into a steep canyon with 8 cables, 18 platforms, a hanging bridge and optional rappel and Tarzan swing. Next comes river tubing, where you bounce down more than 5 kilometers of the Rio Negro’s clear rapids in your own tube.

Lunch is a buffet with a salad bar, several mains and sides, desserts, fresh juice, coffee and tea, and dietary needs can be accommodated. In the afternoon you are driven to the Rio Negro Hot Springs, ten pools heated naturally by the volcano and surrounded by tropical dry forest, where you can also try the mud bath.

Prices and extra costs

  • Included: buffet lunch, bottled water, professional guide, all fees and taxes, and transport by air-conditioned minivan from the listed beach and Liberia areas.
  • Not included: gratuities; transport from Andaz, Four Seasons, Planet Hollywood, Waldorf Astoria, Las Catalinas and Dreams Las Mareas ($70 per booking, billed separately); the Hacienda Pinilla and JW Marriott pickup fee ($50 per booking).

What to bring

  • Swimsuit and a change of clothes for the tubing, hot springs and mud bath.
  • Closed shoes that can get wet, plus a towel.
  • Sunscreen and insect repellent.

Tips for a better day

  • Check your pickup time: pickups start as early as 6:00 am from Hacienda Pinilla and around 6:30 am from Tamarindo, so plan an early night.
  • Give your hotel name: you need to provide your hotel, house or condo name when booking, and tell security at the gate that the tour van is coming.
  • Families with young kids: children aged 4 to 7 can do everything except tubing, but one adult has to stay behind with them during that part.

Who it’s best for

  • Best for: active travelers and families who want ziplining, tubing and hot springs in one day without planning each activity separately.
  • Consider another option if: you prefer a calmer day focused on wildlife, such as the Palo Verde boat safari.

Restrictions

The tour is not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health, spinal injuries or pregnant travelers, and a moderate level of fitness is needed. The minimum age for tubing is 8, depending on the child’s size and the river conditions that day, and the weight limit is 300 lbs.
