Riviera Maya Resorts & Tours

The Riviera Maya is the stretch of Caribbean coast south of Cancún, running from Puerto Morelos past Playa del Carmen and Akumal to Tulum. It is lined with all-inclusive resorts, white-sand beaches and cenotes, and is close to Mayan ruins, eco-parks like Xcaret and Xel-Há, and the Mesoamerican Reef.
Almost all visitors fly into Cancún International Airport (CUN). Resorts in Puerto Morelos are about 20 to 30 minutes away, Playa del Carmen about 45 minutes, and Akumal and Tulum about 1 to 1.5 hours. Tulum also has its own airport (TQO). The local currency is the Mexican peso, and U.S. dollars are widely accepted. The drier season runs from about December to April, and hurricane season from June 1 to November 30.
