Serengeti Resorts & Tours

The Serengeti is Tanzania’s best-known national park, a vast area of open grassland, rocky kopjes and acacia woodland in the north. It is famous for the Great Migration of wildebeest and zebra, and for lions, leopards and cheetahs. Most visitors stay at lodges and tented camps in the Central Serengeti around Seronera, and others in the north near the Mara River, in the Western Corridor or around Ndutu in the south.
Most international visitors fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), then take a light aircraft from Kilimanjaro or Arusha to airstrips such as Seronera, a flight of about 1 to 2 hours. The drive from Arusha via the Ngorongoro area takes most of a day. The local currency is the Tanzanian shilling, and U.S. dollars are widely used for park fees and safaris. The dry season runs from about June to October, and the main rains fall from about March to May.
