What to expect on the day

After check-in you are taken to the lake, where guides show you paddling techniques. You cross historic Alta Lake, then follow the river through floating lilies and around tight bends under overhanging trees, while your guide talks about Whistler’s history, plants and wildlife. Water levels change through the season: expect faster water in spring, and in late summer there may be beaver dams to cross and a short portage.

What to bring

• A swimsuit or activewear, plus waterproof layers in case of rain.
• Footwear you don’t mind getting wet.

Tips for a better day

• Check-in: Arrive 30 minutes before your tour time.
• Pair up well: Each canoe needs 2 capable paddlers. Ask the operator if you would like to share a canoe with a guide.
• Summer only: This is a summer tour, so plan it for the warmer months.

Best for: Active couples, friends and families with children aged 6 or older who can swim.

Restrictions

A moderate level of fitness is needed and all participants must be able to swim. The minimum age is 6, and anyone under 19 must be with an adult. All participants sign a waiver. At least one adult per group must speak conversational English.
